Stefan "The Wise One" Kanfer, an author from Hastings-on-Hudson, prepares to bat during a game of stickball..---.The Ethical Stickball League has been operating since 1970, meeting every Sunday in the parking lot behind Hastings High School from 10:30AM to 1PM. The players are men now mostly in their 70s - carrying nicknames like "The Wise One", "Hit Man" and "Plays Hurt" - who have an affiliation with the school, either as former teachers, students or neighbors.
